More from MRC

Another major aspect of MRC is ESL. Or English as a Second language. For the past 2 years James has been helping a group of refugees with their school work and also their English skills. They have grown to be good friends and two weeks ago we got to attend one of their high school graduations.

Wedad came to the US from Sudan with her family because of war. When she got here she only wanted to continue her education. So with James' help she graduated from a local ESL program and is now enrolled in college where she wants to get a degree in social work so she can help people like herself.

The most memorable part of the graduation ceremony was Wedad's speech. She was asked to speak as a representative of the ESL class. Her story of survival and determination to obtain her education was nothing but inspiring.

We could not be more proud of Wedad and look forward to attending college graduation!
